Abstract

V originále

The ceiling painting in the Philosophical Hall at the Strahov Canonry in Prague was executed in 1794 by Franz Anton Maulbertsch and his pupil Martin Michl, who were working here in accordance with the concetto of the Maulbertsch fresco in the library of the Premonstratensian monastery at Louka, Znojmo, created in 1778 and destroyed after abolition of monastery in 1784. The article analyses the painting decorations of the Strahov library (Philosophical Hall) and compares them with the Description (Historische Beschreibung), printed in German and Latin versions in 1797, and with the unpublished description penned by Strahov librarien and historian Bohumír Jan Dlabač between 1794-1798.
