Autor článku zdůrazňuje důležitost diachronního přístupu k areálu v jeho komplexnosti a speciálně se zmiňuje o různých přístupech k areálu Ruska a střední Evropy. Současně ukazuje filologicko-areálová studia jako nově se konstituující obor, který postupně definuje předmět svého bádání.

The autor of the present article accentuates the importance of the diachronous approach to the area in its complexity and especially mentions various attitudes to the area of Russia and Central Europe. At the same time he shows the philological-area studies as a discipline which is being newly established and which gradually defines the object of its research.
