V první polovině 20. století se město Liberec velmi intenzivně zabývalo myšlenkou výstavby nové budovy galerie pro adekvátní uložení obrazových sbírek, které získalo v roce 1904 z pozůstalosti Heinricha Liebiega. Rozsáhlá plánová dokumentace, uložená v SOkA Liberec a v Hauptstaatsarchiv Dresden umožňuje rekonstrukci tohoto nikdy nerealizovaného projektu. Po vzniku Metznerbundu v březnu 1920 v Teplicích získala jeho liberecká pobočka od libereckého magistrátu k bezúplatnému užívání bývalý lokál v centru města, později známou Metznerbundhalle. Předkládaná studie pojednává o vztahu města ke kulturním zařízením v průběhu 20. století.

In the first half of the 20th century the city of Liberec was intensively occupied by the idea to build a new Gallery house for the adequate deposition of visual collections obtained in 1904 from inheritance of Heinrich Liebig. The extensive planned documentation deposited in the State Regional Archive in Liberec and in the Hauptstaatsarchiv in Dresden enables the reconstruction of the project which was never realized. After the establishment Metznerbund in March 1920 in Teplice, Liberec won his office from City Hall in Liberec on free use of the former hangout in the heart of the city, later known Metznerbundhalle. This study deals with the relationship of cultural facilities in the 20th century.
