This article is a result of an ongoing research. It addresses the statement of teaching philosophy and its institutional role in the European and American contexts. It argues that this statement that is relatively unknown in the Czech academic context is being increasingly used by academic institutions in Europe because it reflects personal goals with concrete examples from methodology. It is an important tool for self-reflection and goal-setting for academics.
