Abstract
Coarse grain deltas located along both “active” and “passive” margins of the foreland basins differ in provenance. Provenance study is based on the pebble analyses, heavy minerals associations, and garnet and rutile geochemistry. Gravels are polymict and the composition of each delta body is strongly influenced by the local sources (Precambrian crystalline rocks, Palaeozoic graywackes and shales, Mesozoic carbonates). Abundant presence of intraclasts (sometimes several m in diameter) reflects cannibalisation of the older basin infill.
