Abstract
Following late Firbasian tradition, the author’s research into the area of the theory of functional sentence perspective (FSP) has predominantly dealt with the text material of religious discourse (see above all Adam 2004, 2008 and 2009). Nonetheless, the present paper draws on the results obtained in the research carried out in the field of FSP operating in fiction narrative texts. It looks at the text material from the perspective of Firbasian tradition, following approaches and usage of terms of Firbas 1992. It focuses especially on the issue of the non-thematic tracks, with special regard to the function of the English verb and the phenomenon of semantic homogeneity.
