| This book is an anthology of 12th-century Byzantine begging poems translated into Czech. The translation itself is preceded by an introductory study, which begins with an attempt to define begging poetry and to set Byzantine begging poems into the context of European literature. The book ends with brief commentaries on the historical events, on both Byzantine and ancient culture and with a few interpretative notes. |
