Abstract

V originále

Sequencing of the polymorphic region of the protein A gene revealed 14 different spa types. Twenty-three strains of which 6 were eta gene-positive, 16 carried both eta and etb gene, and one harboured etb gene, were classified into prevailing spa type t159. The four other predominating spa types identified as t084, t209, t186 and t645, were detected in strains isolated in nine geographically distant hospitals. Two strains belonged to the still undescribed spa types, and their sequences were submitted to the RIDOM database. The results showed that the spa typing significantly contributed to discriminatory studies of the ET-positive S. aureus strains occurring in the Czech Republic between 1998 and 2010.
