The chapter deals with regulation of social policy in the EU that consists of labour law and social security law. It provides an overview of fields of labour law and social security law regulated by the EU with respect to its competencies to take measures governing these fields. Detailed attention is paid to fundamental principles the social policy is based on, in particular the principle of equal treatment and non-discrimination, the specific regulation of some fields of labour law that are a result of social dialogue at EU level and social security of persons enjoying the right to free movement.

Kapitola se zabývá právní úpravou sociální politiky v EU, která zahrnuje pracovní právo a sociální zabezpečení. Podává přehled oblastí pracovního práva a práva sociálního zabezpečení, které jsou EU upraveny s ohledem na její pravomoc přijímat opatření v těchto oblastech.. Bližší pozornost je věnována základním zásadám, na kterých je sociální politika postavena, zejména zásadě rovného zacházení a zákazu diskriminace, specifikům úpravy některých oblastí pracovního práva, jež je výsledkem sociálního dialogu na úrovní EU, a sociálnímu zabezpečení osob, které využily práva na volný pohyb.
