TY - JOUR ID - 966068 AU - Rapoport, Alexandra E. - Trifonov, Eduard PY - 2011 TI - "Anticipated" nucleosome positioning pattern in prokaryotes JF - Gene VL - 488 IS - 1-2 SP - 41-45 EP - 41-45 PB - Elsevier SN - 03781119 KW - Amphipathic alpha helices KW - Evolution of nucleosome positioning pattern KW - Hidden sequence patterns KW - Sequence periodicity KW - Shannon N-gram extension N2 - Linguistic (word count) analysis of prokaryotic genome sequences, by Shannon N-gram extension, reveals that the dominant hidden motifs in A+T rich genomes are T(A)(T)A and G(A)(T)C with uncertain number of repeating A and T. In this case the above patterns in prokaryotes may be considered as "anticipated" nucleosome positioning patterns which, quite likely, existed in prokaryotic genomes before the evolutionary separation between eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
