Abstract

Role a funkce neziskových organizací prošly v posledních desetiletích transformací, během které se neziskového sektoru a jeho organizací dotkly výrazné změny. Jejich pozice v ekonomice a společnosti se podstatně posunula, tradiční filantropické a sdružovací role byly doplněny o další funkce, cíle a poslání. Tyto organizace se staly významnými spolupracovníky i konkurenty jak soukromých firem, tak veřejných organizací; představují dnes také významnou ekonomickou sílu. Všechny tyto role jsou v moderním světě významné a zasluhují si podrobné studium a porozumění. Nicméně, výzkum neziskového sektoru nesmí zaostávat za vývojem neziskového sektoru samotného. Výzkumníci se již přibližně od 60. let 20. století pokoušejí nalézt odpovědi na zásadní otázky týkající se chování neziskových subjektů. Formulují teorie neziskových institucí, jedno či vícefaktorové; některé z nich přitom mají ambici sehrát roli univerzálního vysvětlení vývoje neziskového sektoru, jeho chování a specifických vlastností. Ačkoliv tyto teorie přinesly mnoho zajímavých konceptů, vysvětlení a vzorců chování, žádná z nich ve skutečnosti tento univerzální charakter nemá a nelze ji aplikovat v širším měřítku. Tato kniha se zaměřuje na výše uvedené problémy: chování neziskových organizací a způsob, jakým jednotlivé teorie a definice reflektují fenomén neziskovosti. Jsou analyzovány ty nejvýznamnější teorie, které jsou vzájemně konfrontovány a srovnávány s reálným chováním neziskových subjektů. Pozornost je věnována především esenciálním konceptům neziskové ekonomie, přičemž jedním z nich je podmínka nerozdělování zisku a její dopady na chování neziskových organizací. Analýza jednotlivých teorií a konceptů potom slouží jakožto východisko doporučení pro veřejné politiky ovlivňující neziskový sektor. Autor se také snaží objasnit racionální zásady postoje vlády k neziskovým organizacím.

Abstract (in English)

The roles and functions of the nonprofit organizations are being transformed in the last few decades; massive change is occurring in the nonprofit sector and its organizations. Their position have progressively shifted, their traditional philanthropic and associational roles are being supplemented by other functions, missions and goals. Nonprofit organizations are increasingly becoming competitors and collaborators with private firms and government agencies; they also represent important economic forces. The role of nonprofit institutions in the modern world is certainly considerable and worthy of study. Of course, nonprofit sector research has to follow the changes in the nonprofit sector. Researchers are trying to answer the most substantial questions concerning the nonprofit sector behaviour. They formulate the theories of the nonprofit institutions, a single factor and multi-factor ones; some of them have ambitions to play the role of universal explanation of the nonprofit sector evolution, behaviour, uniqueness and specifics. Although the theories bring many interesting concepts, explanations and patterns, none of them is universally valid and widely applicable. This book is focused on those above mentioned issues: nonprofit organizations behaviour and the way how the particular theories and definitions reflect the nonprofit phenomenon. The basic and favourite theories are being examined and confronted with the real manners of the nonprofit subjects. The attention is being paid especially to the basic concepts of the nonprofit economics. One of them is undoubtedly the nondistribution constraint and its connotations and impacts on the nonprofit organizations behaviour. The analysis of the particular theories and concepts serves as a base for the recommendations for the public policies towards the nonprofit sector. Author also tries to explain the rational approach of the government to the nonprofit organizations.
