Abstract

Umělecké sdružení Prager Secession, zformované kolem osobnosti malíře Maxima Kopfa, představovalo svojí kvalitou a obsazením nejambicióznější spolkový počin na německo-české výtvarné scéně v meziválečném Československu, přesahující zastoupením významných autorů ze severu a západu Čech, Moravy i zahraničí okruh pražského prostředí, z něhož vycházelo. V období 1929–1937 se členy Prager Secession stalo postupně 26 předních německy hovořících umělců své doby, kteří se spolu s dalšími celkem více jak čtyřmi desítkami hostů prezentovali na pravidelných podzimních výstavách v Praze v Krasoumné jednotě, ale i jinde. Navzdory těmto skutečnostem nebyla doposud činnost Prager Secession v odborné literatuře podrobněji zpracována, což je podmíněno především stále poměrně nízkým povědomím o tvorbě řady členů sdružení i situací na poli výzkumu německo-českého výtvarného umění obecně.

Abstract (in English)

The artistic association Prager Secession, which grew up around the leading figure of the painter Maxim Kopf, represented in terms of its quality and composition the most ambitious society on the German-Czech artistic scene in inter-war Czechoslovakia, extending beyond the Prague milieu in which it originated through the adherence of important artists from northern and western Bohemia, Moravia, and from other countries. During the period 1929–1937 26 of the leading German-speaking artists of the time gradually became members of the Prager Secession, who presented their work together with more than 40 other guests at regular autumn exhibitions in Prague held by the Krasoumná jednota [Fine Arts League], and elsewhere as well. In spite of these facts, the activity of the Prager Secession has not so far been examined in detail in the specialist literature, due primarily to the still relatively low awareness of the work done by many members of the association, and the situation in the field of research into German-Czech fine art in general.
