Abstract
Lung cancer is the most important cause of death due to cancer in the world. Even with best available treatment, survival 5 years post-diagnosis is approximately 15% [1], and about 80% of patients die within 1 year of diagnosis [2]. The poor prognosis is often caused by a late diagnosis as the presentation usually occurs when the disease is advanced. Patients develop burdensome symptoms arising from disease or treatments, particularly in the advanced stage of illness.
