We analyzed lymphocyte subpopulations in MS patients and healthy controls and studied the treatment effects of interferon beta and glatiramer acetate treatment on T cells subpopulations during first year of treatment in comparison with untreated patients. We observed a significant increase of effector T cells and decrease in regulatory T cells in MS patients compared to healthy controls. After glatiramer acetate and interferon beta therapy we observed a significant decrease in effector T cells and thus the restoration of imbalance in the immune system. ER -
