Abstract
Within 6 years NPWT has established in treatment of surgical patients across all specializations ( traumatology, chest surgery, cardio surgery, vascular surgery, abdominal surgery, general surgery) There is a demonstrably lower morbidity and mortality with seriously affected patients suffering from infections at the wound side. The financial benefits lie in total decrease of costs of treatment, shortened hospitalization time and thus lower financial burden for the healthcare facility. The negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a standard treatment option of early dehiscent wounds and secondary healing skin defects. Success of treatment depends on Team work and expertise of the medical staff Suitable patient Immediate handling of all problems Tailored treatment for individual patient NWPT represents an unequivocal benefit for the medical staff but in the final effect also for the hospital budget
