The aim of the thesis will be to discuss and compare the first reactions (during the first year after the beginning of the conflict) of the European Union to the conflict in Ukraine in 2014 and 2022 in the field of crisis and conflict management. The thesis will take into account the historic background and theoretical concepts of the EU as an actor in international relations and also the EU as an actor of crisis and conflict management(EU as a civilian and normative power; peace-keeping; CSDP civilian and military missions etc.). In the second part of the thesis the comparison of the initial responses of the EU as a crisis/conflict management actor will be done (the indicators which will be expolored in the analysis will be based on the EU comprehensive/integrated approach to the external crises and conflicts as it is defined in the Communication from December 2013 and the EUGS from 2016). Questions: 1) What was the EU first response to Ukrainian crisis in 2014 and 2022? Which areas were covered? 2) What kind of crisis management strategies does the EU tend to follow (early warning, preparadness, mitigation, adaptation etc.) 3) To what extent the EU immediate reaction to Ukrainian crisis in 2014 and 2022 corresponded with the EU role as a crisis manager (in accordance with the comprehensive/integrated approach)? 4) How has the EU position and role as a crisis manager changed in case of Ukraine from 2014 and 2022?
