This thesis deals with the synthetic route and analysis of a copper(I) complex of adenine in order to determine its stoichiometry and stability. The individual intermediates and the product of the synthesis, the Cu(I)Ade complex, were analysed using FTIR and NMR spectroscopic methods. The synthesis of the Cu(I)Ade complex was performed in various solvents (CH3CN, DCM, DMSO, ethanol). The thesis focuses on the synthesis in ethanol. To avoid possible disproportionation and oxidation of the copper cation caused by air humidity and the presence of oxygen in the reaction mixture, the synthesis of the intermediate [Cu(CH3CN)4]ClO4 and Cu(I)Ade was performed in an inert atmosphere and in degassed solvents. The oxidation state of copper was analysed using 63Cu NMR and EPR spectroscopy. The formation of the Cu(I)Ade complex was confirmed by MS spectrometry.
