In the last couple of years there was a large increase in energy consumption in Southeast Asia which was followed by a worldwide energy pivot and attention towards the region. Countries within the region are thus met with multiple challenges in the quest to prosper in the competitive environment. Energy security is necessary for the ability to satisfy escalating energy demand, while there is an increasing pressure to lower pollution linked with it. The question remains, how the cooperation with China affects other countries in the region, not necessarily only in the energy area. Following diploma thesis tries to map out cooperation of multiple Asian countries with China and on chosen case studies of Indonesia and Myanmar demonstrate, which opportunities and threats are stemming from it for specific countries. The thesis will work with SWOT analysis connected with dimension of energy trilemma.
