My Bachelor’s thesis deals with the pedagogical activities of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany. These activities are targeted at schools on the primary and secondary levels and realized through structured and interactive visits to the museum. The first section of my thesis addresses the general educational functions of a museum such using the Deutsches Museum as an example and examines its characteristics such as its exhibits and related collections of materials. In addition to this, an examination of the German educational system and its various types of schools is provided. The most detailed part of my thesis contains an analysis of concrete pedagogical activities for schools with a focus on utilized forms and methods of interaction with students as well as on the specifics of interaction with regard to age groups. The final section of my thesis is concerned with the ways in which the Deutsches Museum cooperates with schools and the central points upon which this cooperation is built.
