Thesis deals with the educational objectives of the history
subject in secondary schools providing general education during
the First Republic and after the year 1989. Used method  is a
comparison of selected periods.
The first part characterizes the First Republic educational
system, its background for teaching history, a position which
history had in the school curriculum and educational goals of
teaching history.
The following section is devoted to teaching the subject of
history in our country in secondary school education after
1989. Again, there is the school system briefly introduced, the
position of history in the school curriculum specified,
including Standards of education and the Educational program.
The part is finished by defining the objectives of history
teaching.
The final part of the thesis is the comparison in the
educational objectives of history course of the two selected
periods . There is a brief comparison of the position of the
history subject and the problems of its teaching during the
First Republic and after November 1989.
