Abstract This thesis investigates the role of an Armadillo repeat-containing (ARM) protein in Arabidopsis thaliana, focusing on its involvement in light signaling and abiotic stress responses. Recently published work on the function of the plant ARM protein has shown that it affects the expression of a whole range of genes involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms or the response to abiotic stress. The diploma thesis will be focused on the experimental investigation of these biological pathways and questions related to influencing transcription as a response to selected conditions of abiotic stress. Plant lines carrying selected reporter constructs, the mutant arm-1 line and lines overexpressing the ARM protein will be used.
