This bachelor thesis concentrates on the Lucernafilm produced film melodramas in the era of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, 1939 – 1945. The focus lies on the contemporary genre diversification of the selected films, which are for the purpose of the thesis defined as melodramas. Subsequently, the thesis introduces author’s own categorization based both on the then existing journalist, production and promotional discourse and the contemporary cinema-studies and theoretical research. The contribution of this thesis is mainly the new perspective on the protectorate film production, especially on the diversity of the period genre labelling, which has not been reflected yet in historical and theoretical publications.
