Automatic question generation and adaptive practice

Abstract

Práce se zabývá automatickým generováním otázek z textu. Jsou popsány různé přístupy založené na metodách umělé inteligence a zpracování přirozeného jazyka a je také diskutována možnost adaptabilního procvičování v případě automaticky vygenerovaných otázek. V rámci práce je navržen modulární systém pro procvičování znalostí z článků na Wikipedii. Tento systém byl implementován a je veřejně přístupný přes webové rozhraní.

Abstract

The thesis focuses on automatic question generation from text. Various approaches based on methods of artificial intelligence and natural language processing are described and the possibility of adaptive practice in the settings of automatically generated questions is also discussed. The thesis suggests a design of a modular framework for practicing knowledge from articles on Wikipedia. The framework has been implemented and is publicly accessible through a web interface.

Thesis description
Automatic question generation approaches focus on factual question generation for reading comprehension and more efficient learning. The student will study approaches to automatic question generation from texts. The work should discuss existing tools and methods and describe their advantages and disadvantages. The main goal of the work is to develop a framework for practising one's knowledge using a combination of appropriate components. The developed system will include a web interface for selecting an article from English Wikipedia and practising knowledge from the selected article. The system should collect feedback from users to enable performance evaluation.
