Hlavným cieľom predkladanej práce je zodpovedanie výskumnej otázky, či môže byť nezávislosť na poli pokladaná za kognitívnu schopnosť a nie za kognitívny štýl, ako to bolo doteraz. Teoretické kapitoly práce sa zameriavajú na kognitívne štýly vo všeobecnosti, ďalej poskytujú prehľad literatúry, ktorá sa zaoberá konceptom závislosti na poli a kritikou tohto konceptu. Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to examine whether field independence represents a spatial cognitive ability rather than a cognitive style. The theoretical chapters of the thesis discuss cognitive styles in general, provide an overview of available literature on research dealing with cognitive style of field dependence/independence and on rising criticism of this concept.
