	Using trainee texts in translation research is still a relatively new and very promising field. Ms. Minarčíková wrote a very good thesis of this type, with clear objective and methodology. She sums up the field of FSP research, demonstrating good knowledge of the available literature, and adds a commented bibliography of articles. In some cases, the extent of quotations could be made more clear in this theoretical part.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	The findings of her own research are valuable and sometimes surprising, the latter especially as regards the relation of FSP deficiency to various features of the source texts. Here, the thesis points in a direction on which further research would certainly be desirable.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	A technical remark: In some cases, the thesis includes information about context in the description of the translated sentences. Sometimes, however, the reader has to rely on the author in this respect. For the sentence 10 from text 1 (p. 35), for example, solution 7 would be perfectly correct if the previous text dealt with the battery or card running out in normal working mode (as opposed to sleep mode); to exclude this option, the reader has to refer to the complete text. The texts are duly enclosed on a CD ROM; however, their inclusion in a printed Appendix (without the analyzed students' solutions) could have been considered.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	For discussion: The author rightly sums up the difficulty of defining a translation error (p. 12 and elsewhere), and applies a two-level identification of errors. Even then, some judgments concerning acceptability of the TT formulations are inevitably disputable. (For instance, in text 11, sentence 2, on page 36, solution 10 could probably be accepted: &quot;nekalé praktiky při získávání zakázek&quot; could be seen as one noun phrase that is found in the rhematic position; similarly, of the three examples quoted from Kufnerová on page 11, only the Czech sentence in the first one seems to be indisputably wrong.). Is there a way to tackle this problem - i.e. making error identification even more objective - in further research?&lt;br /&gt;
