This diploma thesis describes development of a new information
system which publishes data about the environment. The work
acquaints the reader with services and systems which have been
published so far, and it also serves as a handbook for all the
people who want to be informed about different approaches to
environmental data which they can later use in their jobs. The
thesis deals in short with possibilities of presenting pieces
of information about the environment in analogue and digital
forms, and it pays attention to the use of these data in
cartographic production in the Czech Republic. The main part of
the work is devoted to proposals of possible ways of publishing
environmental data on the Internet. In conclusion, the reader
can find an example of practical creation of a new user
application which uses data about the environment.  A CD-R with
a specimen map is one of the supplements.
