The diploma thesis is devoted to the didactic application of
the regional history of the town
of Litomyšl in elementary school teaching. The theoretical part
of the thesis discusses the issue
of regional history and its position in the teaching of history
and briefly summarizes the history
of the town. The main part of the thesis describes current
practice in this field. Based on
a content analysis of school educational documents and
interviews with history teachers, it
describes how regional history is used in elementary schools in
Litomyšl. The thesis also
presents five didactic preparations that are based on the use
of regional history and deal with
the following topics: the founding of medieval towns, the
revolutionary year 1848,
the Holocaust, political processes, and the Velvet Revolution.
