The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the characters and the narrator in the novel White and Red by the Polish writer Dorota Masłowska. The thesis is divided into two parts, a methodological and an analytical part. The methodological part is divided into five chapters. It focuses on the basic scientific concepts of narrative and narratology; furthermore it defines the concept of a literary character, which is followed by the theory of typology and the characterization of the characters. The method of the direct and the indirect definition of the characters' presentation is used. The last chapter of the methodology deals with the definition and the categorization of the narrator. The analytical part that focuses on the specific characters and the narrator is based on the selected methods which are represented by the quotes from the chosen novel.
