Dick. At the beginning, the author states he sets himself the task of exploring the topics of totalitarianism and politics in Dick's novels and analysing what message they leave. Nohovec fulfils the task very well. He demonstrates his ability to combine criticism and a variety of sources. The thesis is comprehensibly organised and its clearly outlined chapters follow a thematic throughline. The analysis itself is well written, the language of the thesis is basically flawless. Nevertheless, there are some problematic points which need to be addressed. - the style of the thesis is rather a narrative than academic writing; - Nohovec uses an incorrect symbol of dash which is not in accordance with the MLA style; - there is a serious problem with the citations in the thesis. Nohovec does not cite in accordance with the MLA style. He cites a work in the text which is not included in the list of works cited (Gregg Rickman). The most serious issue is Nohovec's including 13 (!!!) works in the list of works cited which are not cited in the text.   Given these imperfections, I suggest an overall B for the thesis. textarea Comments and/or topics and questions for the thesis defence 7 diskuse textarea 8 B
