When it comes to implementation of Smart Cities in Slovakia, there exists several obstacles which cause the ineffective and unsuccessful implementation of these projects. The aim of this thesis is to identify the factors behind the unsuccessful implementation of this concept in Slovak municipalities. The thesis will use as a main source mostly interviews with relevant actors, such as representatives of municipalities, relevant Slovak ministries, experts and business representatives. The ambition of the thesis is to make a valuable contribution to the debate of implementing smart cities projects in Slovakia, as well as across Europe.
