On February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine, resulting in an open war that affected the lives of millions of people around the world. However, it also influenced the rethinking of European countries about their contemporary security policy. One of these countries is Germany, where such debates have been lively. Since the end of the Cold War, only a few similar moments can be identified that have given rise to a similar need. Following this "new" security situation, the German chancellor declared the Zeitenwende. This "turning point" for Germany was then met with great interest from experts, as it should represent a turning point in the German foreign and security policy. However, the practical influence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on German security policy remains to be analyzed. The thesis in the form of extended position paper analyses German security policy before and after the war in Ukraine, whereas it maintains the main goal, which is to achieve the understanding of the influence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on German security policy.
