This thesis addresses the importance of rhythm in teaching and learning processes and is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part, the role of rhythm, along with stress and intonation, in proper English pronunciation is explained. Since rhythm is an integral part of any song or music, the contributions of this area to learning and teaching not only the English language are explored as well. There is also a chapter devoted to Jazz Chants because they function as a bridge between rhythmical natural speech and music. Finally, attention is paid to biological rhythms (especially the sleep-wake cycle) because they impact learning and teaching. The empirical part aims to find out about the experience of secondary school graduates with the incorporation of music into English lessons. Another goal is to explore the way pronunciation is taught and how respondents perceive the early school start times.
