The bachelor thesis deals with two film adaptations of the
science fiction genre novel War of the Worlds. The first
adaptation is the film of the same name by director Byron
Haskinfrom 1953 and the second is it’s remake from 2005,
directed by Steven Spielberg. The work compares these two
films, especially with regard to the historical and cultural
influence on both films, which were made at different times. It
also deals with the characteristics of the sci-fi genre in
films in the given historicial periods the use of visual and
technical components. The bachelor thesis defines the common
and different elements of both images in regards to the
mentioned categories.
