A System For Task Allocation Management

Bc. Radoslav Husár
Abstract

Diplomová práca predstavuje metodiku Feature-Driven Development ako agilnú alternatívu. Jej hlavná filozofia, vrátane „build by feature,“ je aplikovaná na Quality Engineering proces. Výsledkom je neformálny proces obohatený hodnotnými doporučeniami z osobnej skúsenosti. Riadenie takéhoto procesu by malo byť agilné a orientované na zákazníka. Práca poukazuje na to, prečo niektoré plánovacie techniky …more

Thesis description

The goal of this thesis is to gather and analyze requirements, design and implement a system for coordinating task allocation within a project. The tool should be able to maintain individual requirements that come from product requirements specification, allot individual tasks to fulfil those requirements and allocate resources (especially human resources) to those tasks. A method must be created to handle overlaps between tasks correctly.

The thesis will provide an overview of current project management systems and pinpoint their drawbacks for this purpose and explain benefits of the proposed system and ways of deployment in an enterprise. A proof of concept will be driven during quality assurance phase of JBoss SOA Platform at Red Hat Inc.

The engine should be rule-based (expert system) to automatically handle the assignments with option to select preferred task type for individual people and to manually reassign tasks. The system must be able to generate reports with charts to show overall project progress, progress for given task type, and progress for individual users. A solution for system to be expandable via plug-ins to be able to provide connections to other systems that are in relation with particular tasks (including bug tracking systems, test case management systems, and continuous integration systems) should be suggested.
