Abstract

Tato práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat možnosti tisku na jednotlivých mobilných platformách a popisuje dostupné protokoly pro tisk a vyhledání tiskáren či tiskových serverů v síti. První část se zaměřuje na protokoly pro tisk a vyhledání tiskáren a obecně je popisuje a srovnává. Abstract

This thesis investigates possibilities of printing on mobile platforms and describes available protocols for printing and printer discovery. The first part of this thesis covers the printing and discovery protocols in general and the second part describes the mobile operating systems Android, iOS, Windows 10 Mobile, Firefox OS and Ubuntu Touch. The main emphasis is put on Android because it is the most popular platform and does not have a full native printing solution.

Thesis description

A student should explore possibilities of printing on different platforms: Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Firefox OS (optional) and Ubuntu on Phone (optional). The student should explore properties (e.g., available libraries, community support, licenses) of printing protocols (e.g., Internet Printing Protocol, Line Printer protocol, WS-Print) available for each platform.

Following protocol should be examined and described in detail: Internet Printing Protocol, Line Printer Protocol, WS-Print. The text should contain instructions for developers how to handle printing in specific platform.

Design and implement an application (or a library), which allows a user to print directly from a mobile device. The implementation should cover Android, Windows Phone and iOS.

The thesis will be realized with Y Soft Corporation, a.s., a strategic industrial partner of the Faculty of Informatics.
