The bachelor thesis focuses on teaching the topic of urbanization and metropolitan areas in geography lessons at the grammar school level. The aim of the thesis is to provide an overview of the assumed and realized implementation of this topic in education by analyzing curricula, high school textbooks and specialist pedagogical books. In order to achieve more authenticity, the thesis includes interviews with current high school geography teachers as well as university lecturers who prepare students of teaching. The thesis also includes a theoretical grounding of the topic in the literature of urban geography. The core of the practical part is a detailed elaboration of five different activities dealing with this topic, whose mission is to deepen the knowledge and develop key competences of students in grammar schools.
