Course objectives
The goal of the subject is introduce students basic psychological concepts, theories and outstanding authors. Seminars elaborates on selected topics.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introduction to psychology
  • concepts: scientific and folk psychology; work psychology, human resources, clinical psychology, counseling, educational psychology, psychotherapy; related fields: ethology,neurology, mathematics, philosophy etc., psychology as a helping profession, burn-out syndrome
  • 2) Basic psychological schools and their origin
  • concepts: associationism, gestalt psychology, behaviorism, cognitive psychology
  • authors: D. Hume, J.S.Mill, K. Koffka, M. Wertheimer, W. Köhler, J.B. Watson, E.C. Tolman
  • 3) Perception
  • concepts: perception, neurological background; illusions, Rorschach test; cues in visual perception monocular – linear perspective, texture gradient, atmospheric perspective, shadowing, interposition, moving, usual size; perception constants; cues in visual perception binonocular, unconscious perception (Helmholtz); afterimages
  • theories: constructivis theories, direct approaches, Gibson`s ecological theory

  • 4) Memory
  • concepts: explicit, implicit semantic, epizodic, autobiographical, senzotic, echoic, short-term,long-term, work memory; proactive and retroactive interference, amnesia; factors influencing recall and recognition, Zeigernik's effect, memory and imagery, Ebbinghase`s curve; types of learning
