Course objectives
Introductory course on music theory directed upon basic terminology.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to use theoretic knowledge to practic skills.

  • 1. Tones and tone system, basics of music writing
  • 2. Intervals
  • 3. Chords
  • 4. Scales
  • 5. Italian music terminology
  • 6. Basic terminology of the connected subjects - harmony, counterpoint, musical forms, acoustics, history of music

Teaching methods
The subject combines a form of a lecture and a seminar, uses drills and homeworks.
Assessment methods
Colloquium in the form of a written test (consisting of 5 exercises aimed at testing the essential analytical skills) followed by practical examination.
