Course objectives
To familiarize basic ecology of algae (cyanobacteria included);
To span the breadth of algal chemical ecology from the perspective of basic ecology;
To understand physic-chemical principles of algal ecology inside fresh-water, marine and (sub)aerial habitats;
To help algal ecologists understand the chemistry underlyimg chemical ecological studies;
The focus on geography and habitat with the relativelly wel-studied tropical and temperate marine communities and the relatively understudied freshwater and polar marine communities;
The utility of macroalgae across latitudes and habitats as models for testing and expanding broad ecological theories;
The most new area in algal ecology - Algal Chemical Ecology;
