Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The course Community Care provides students with information from the field of health literacy in relation to health promotion and disease prevention and from the area of ​​primary and community care. The content of the course is based on current legislation and the latest scientific knowledge and recommendations, including the principles of evidence-based nursing (Evidence Based Nursing). The course defines basic demographic data in relation to the community, information about ethnic groups, the ability of the community to care for and use social services and support. Furthermore, the course focuses on the student in the system of health and social services in community care and their availability, in the possibilities of multidisciplinary cooperation and presents the state health policy in the area of ​​community care. The course also introduces students to the current provision of primary care in the Czech Republic and the activities of nurses in primary care in general practitioners, general practitioners for children and adolescents, in gynecology and dentistry outpatient clinics, in first aid medical services and in agencies home care. It focuses on the specifics of community nursing care and education of patients of all age and social groups. Furthermore, the subject introduces the issue of aggression, abuse, dependence and care for people with specific needs.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
define basic demographic data relating to community and community care;
define socio-economic factors affecting human health;
enumerate health and social services in community care;
list the possibilities of multidisciplinary cooperation in community care;
to understand the role of general nurse in community care, the scope of her activities and possibilities of professional growth;
enumerate primary care components;
to define curative and preventive care in GP outpatient clinics, GP outpatient clinics for children and adolescents, in gynecology and dentistry outpatient clinics and in the first aid medical service;
define home care and adopt its philosophy;
understand the organization of home care;
list the indications for home care and the conditions for starting, providing and terminating care;
to realize the differences in the provision of care and communication in the client's own social environment;
understand the needs of children, adolescents, seniors, chronically ill and disabled;
understand the problem of addictions to addictive substances and possible solutions;
understand the issue of aggression in the family, in the community and the possibilities of solution.
