Course objectives
At the end of this course the student should be able to effectively search the fulltexts of scientific papers and books on the specific topis in the library catalogues and online resources (internet, databases tec.). Evaluate the scientific quality of found information - acquire information to his / her research and academic writing - apply the basic rules of publication ethics - correct quotation and making the bibliographic references according to recommended citation styles.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this E-learning course, student should be able to: - effectively search the fultexts of scientific papers and books on the specific topis in the library catalogues and online resources (internet, databases tec.) - evaluate the scientific quality of found information - acquire information to his/her research and academic writing - apply the basic rules of publication ethics - correct quotation and making the bibliographic references according to recommended citation styles

  • 1. Introduction to the course and information literacy, choosing a topic. Types of libraries and their services, searching in a catalogue 2. Introduction to critical thinking. How to avoid information overload. Safe behavior on the Internet 3. Evaluating a website‘s quality and Efficient searching in online databases - introduction 4.
