The course deals with main topics concerning Czech phonetics and phonology, such as the differences between spoken and writen forms of language, methods of transcription, articulation, characteristics of vowels and consonants, basic units of speech and other related topics.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Podmínky absolvování semináře: aktivní účast ve výuce, referát v semináři.
Ukončením předmětu je zkouška.
Podmínkou přistoupení ke zkoušce je úspěšné absolvování semináře. Zkouška se skládá z části písemné části (fonetický a fonologický přepis textu ověřující schopnost analýzy, fonetické určení hlásek ve vybrané části textu, vysvětlení některých termínů; při neznalosti se ve zkoušce nepokračuje) a z části ústní, která prověří nejen pasivní znalost, ale i schopnost osvojené poznatky přednést a vysvětlit.
