Prerequisites
The requirement for the participation in this class is a completed bachelor degree in german language or a comparable field of study and the conclusion of the seminar NJDII_001 Didaktika I - pozorování" and the observating stage "NJDII_004 Pedagogická praxe průběžná I".

Course objectives
The seminar is aimed at prospective teachers and provides basic knowledge of didactics. The focus is on the "skills" of reading, listening, speaking, writing as well as the recent discussions on multiliteracy. The discussion of approaches that focus more on the conventional side of language is complemented by approaches that focus on the encouragement of linguistic creativity. Different scientific texts are going to be read and discussed, which concern both theoretical and practical issues. Selected didactic topics will be taught and analyzed. The course introduces the thematic and methodological extension of Didactics - Methodology as it broadens the portfolio of the didactic knowledge of the latest development of didactics of foreign subjects, as taught at the western universities.
Learning outcomes
The students get a basic idea and achieve knowledge on the concept of multiliteracy and the five "skills". They have fundamental theoretical knowledge, due to the reading of secondary literature. Practical possibilities of appliance are going to be worked out and can be tested in particular classroom scenarios. Students will be guided by the latest methodological development of foreign language didactics.

  • The syllabus will vary according to the particular subject matter. Key didactic concepts will be presented and discussed. Modern didactic methodological approaches and themes of modern foreign language didactics at Western universities will be introduced.
