Course objectives
Second part of propaedeutic subject will directly continue on subject VIKBA01 Information Science 1. Issues in mediation of information, professional terminology, to demand of information career and existing trends of information science are major themes for the course. Students are introduced to fundamentals, reason and current situation of information science. At the end of this propaedeutic motivational course, students should: - Have an understanding of concepts of communication, globalization, computerization - Be aware of and familiar with methodology of information science - Understand the importance of a mediation of information and knowledge and a role of information professional in society - Be able to write scholarly essay

  • Social communication, direct and indirect.
  • Quantitative methodology of information science.
  • Computer as social phenomenon.
  • Virtual reality.
  • Globalization as consequence of acceleration of information-communication processes in society.
  • Global problems of society.
  • Vision of learning society. Computerization of society and its consequences.
  • Orwellism as warning against threat of democracy.
  • Information institutions and theirs networks.
  • Internet as new information-communication medium.
  • Precondition of establishment of information science, its formation and existing development.
  • Current state and issues of information science.
  • Core and basic issues of human thinking. Global thinking.
  • Library and information career and profession. Consideration about future.
