Course objectives
At the end of the learning period of the course, students should: know the history and main concepts of educational policy in respect of higher/tertiary education; be able to idenify and explain the development of higher/tertiary education in Europe; be able to distinguish the key features of higher/tertiary education in Europe and North America.
Syllabus
  • The course comprises three parts focusing respectively on history and theories of educational policy, institutions and systems of higher/tertiary education, and curricular policy.

Teaching methods
Lectures supported by reading and moderated group discussions.
Assessment methods
Written test and a short essay form the exam. The grading scale shall be as follows: A = 18-20 points, B = 15-17 points, C = 11-14 points, D = 8-10 poinst, E = 5-7 points, F = 4 points and below. The test comprises 5 multiple choice questions. Essay at the lenght of approx. 5 presents a student´s view on a major issue of educational policy supported by relevant arguments. By completing both the test and essay, a student can gain maximum 20 points at each case.
