Course objectives
The course introduces the issues of analysis and creation of teaching material in professionnal education. We will present the possibilities of working with didactic and authentic teaching materials for a professional audience and resources for professionally oriented teaching. We will get to know the specifics of language coaching and the principles of autonomous learning in professionnal education.
Learning outcomes
A graduate can:
- create your his/her learning materials tailored to a specific target group (for face-to-face and online environments),
- propose a suitable sequence of activities,
- draw from various sources for teaching professionally oriented education,
- propose and conduct language coaching.

Syllabus
  • Creation and preparation of teaching materials for face-to-face and online teaching:
  • Didactisation of professional texts and texts from the work environment with regard to the participants' fields of study , use of technology in teaching, analysis of textbooks and other already existing manuals/materials.
  • Language coaching and support for autonomous learning:
  • Language consultancy, mediation of learning strategies, international professional language exams.
Teaching methods
Teacher's presentation, discussion, document analysis, case studies, individual and group work.
Assessment methods
Active participation in seminars and self-study with the support of IS-interactive curriculum.
Colloquium - group task: didactisation of selected authentic material for the given target group, presentation in plenary and subsequent reflection.
Individual task: Proposal and methodical description of the teaching unit for selected authentic material (text, video, listening...).
