Course objectives
The main goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge in Physical therapy and its usage in prevention, examination and therapy of musculoskeletal and nervous system influencing all parts of human existence as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation.
It´s important to meet a student with general principles of individual physical therapy parts, physiological or patophysiological organism response on their application and with possibilities of electrotherapy.
This theoretical course goes hand in hand with practical course Physical therapy in practice III.
Syllabus
  • Low-frequency current - Diadynamic current (creation, terminology).
  • Low-frequency current - Diadynamic current (general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications).
  • TENS and its division (general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications). CC and CV mode.
  • TENS with neuromodulation effect and its division.
  • Other types of TENS.
  • Alternating and simultaneous stimulation according to Hufschmidt and Jantsche.
  • Medium-frequency current - classical interference current(placement of electrodes, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications).
  • Medium-frequency current - isoplanar and dipole vector field(placement of electrodes, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications).
  • Contactless electrotherapy – low-frequency. Distance electrotherapy, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications.
  • Magnetotherapy, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications.
  • High-frequency current – diathermy therapy (division, conductive x inductive electromagnetic field, units, security and its importance - Faraday cage, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications). Shortwave diathermy.
  • High-frequency current – ultrashortwave and microwave diathermy (general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology of application, contra/indications).
