Course objectives
Student should be able to speak on any general theme from french history and culture from the beginning to the present.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand and explain the most important notions from french history;
to recognize and explain the basic dates and names of french history and place them in french and european historical context
Student should be able also to read and understand a short document in french, to identify the author and the persons. He should be able also to say the importance of the document.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to:
- identify and synthesize the important characteristics of the history of France until the middle of the 20th century;
- identify and describe the major events in French history and the societal changes influencing the development of language;
- analyze texts relating to key moments fr. history from beginnings to today.

Teaching methods
Lectures. Students are supposed do have read the study materials which are the basis of the course.
Assessment methods
Exam: written test (the limit of success in the test is 60%) is followed by oral part - analysis and commentary of texts from anthology. Attendance at the lecture is not compulsory, but it is highly recommended.
