Course objectives
At the end of the course, students should understand the structure and hierarchy of a Chinese family or even society. They will be able to use the acquired information as to recognize the analogies within the present Chinese society. They will be able to interpret the symbolism of the traditional family and society, as well as to judge its possible (dis)continuity.
Learning outcomes
The lecture is focused on family and kinship network in traditional China and how they have changed in present times. It also describes the household and domestic rituals.
