Course objectives
Seminar is based on collective reading of chosen poems especially from polish literature (but always in czech translation). It aims to practise interpretation of chosen categories, which are supposed to be effective keys to understand a poem. Seminar is therefore intended to those students and readers, who are not familiarised with poetry yet. Student will be able to use elementary terminology and interpretation skills, which he will perfect on reading and discussion of poems.
Syllabus
  • Basic concepts of literary science (elementary knowledge of poetics and genology)
  • Poetry and categories of place and time
  • Chosen themes - poetry and myth, silence, thing etc.
  • Specific motif as an key to reading of poetry - motif of ball, apocalypsa etc.
